Stories matter and we tell them in so many different ways. From birth through school and marriage and children of our own we capture stories in photographs and tell them in albums. Through songs on sporting terraces, tales of the concert we had tickets for, news from the hospital, we tell the stories of our lives – both the highs and the lows. Stories matter. Why? Because people matter. The bible is full of stories of people who matter. Think of all the characters we grew up with. The story of Adam and eve, Noah, the moment that changed the life of a man named Abram, and the ram that took the place of his son. Stories of Jacob and getting the wrong sister, Joseph, of Moses, and Samson, and David facing up to a giant named Goliath. Stories of being carried into captivity and then released to come home. Stories of a young girl named Mary, a disgraced fiancée named Joseph, and the birth of a child named Jesus. Stories of his life, and the stories that he told… of prodigals and widows who find a coin, of banquets and enemies who bandage wounds. Stories matter. Of Peter and Paul and of shipwrecks and prison cells, of a church spreading like wildfire, and of a man named John who reveals how one story will close, with a new and never ending story taking its place. Stories matter. They resonate. We remember the stories, we get drawn in to tales of lives changed, we see ourselves in the tale and wonder how might we have acted or what can we learn. Jesus loved stories… not fairytale ones, but real stories that told real truths to real people with real lives. New Horizon longs to hear your stories.

What does New Horizon mean to you? In what way has being a part of New Horizon changed your life, spoken to you, brought you into conversation or connection with another and from that moment your path has never quite been the same? What happened at New Horizon that sent you home a different person, or indeed meant that you ended up in a new home? Why do we want these stories? Because you matter. Our stories, no matter how simple they seem to us, inspire. Our stories give us a glimpse into how the living God changes lives. They tell us what God is doing and yet also show us how important we are to Him! God chooses to live and work and speak in us, to us, and through us. No matter how simple the action or the message – how amazing is it that the God of heaven and earth might deal with us… when we hear your stories, we are really hearing God’s story in you. In John 17 Jesus prays that the glory of God might be revealed in us. Isn’t it scary to think that we stop seeing the glory of the living God in one another?! Tell us your stories because even if they look as small and insignificant as a mustard seed to you, the glory of the living God whose kingdom rules over the whole of the cosmos, is doing His work in you and through you. Stories matter. Your stories matter. You matter. To God, and to your brothers and sisters here at New Horizon. Write to us. Tweet us, facebook us, email us, respond to this blog… let’s hear and see what God is doing through the story of New Horizon. All you gotta do now… is tell us a story…
