New Horizon this year is about The King’s Speech. It is about a Royal message which is clear incisive and for all. There are no hesitations. He did not need a Lionel Logue to assist Him in His speech although he used ordinary people to convey it. He is the Author of the message and His purpose in writing is not entertainment but life- giving personal encounter.

“These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”                John 20:31

The book we call The Bible is all about Christ. The Old Testament looks forward to Him. The Gospels are all about Him. The rest of the New Testament would not have happened without Him. The whole of history is moving towards Him. When He returns this earth will be no more. It will be Judgement Day.

The speech from the King of Kings contained in the Bible is not just about life, it is also about equipping us for life. St. Paul writing to the young Timothy wrote,

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Here we find everything we need to equip us to live life to the full…a life marked by purity, integrity, holiness and Christ-likeness. This is the kind of life which excludes corruption and dishonesty. It deletes selfishness. It attacks injustice. It fosters healthy enriching relationships in the family, workplace, and society. It fertilizes the common good. It mobilizes God’s people. It fosters forgiveness. It promotes righteousness. It changes lives and transforms communities.

The Bible is a compelling life changing message from the King of Kings. It is truth revealed and truth unleashed. This is a King’s speech which is not just worth hearing. It is designed to be lived.
