Serve at New Horizon for Duke of Edinburgh

New Horizon is an approved residential opportunity for those completing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. Each summer, we welcome young people to serve as part of our Site Setup or Site Stewarding teams — helping prepare and maintain the New Horizon venue while experiencing teamwork, service, and spiritual growth.

The DofE residential combines hard work, friendship, and faith, and takes place on the Ulster University campus in Coleraine. Whether you’re fitting out the Main Tent or helping the event run smoothly, your time will make a lasting impact — and count towards your award.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to those completing the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and who are ready to contribute to the event in a meaningful, practical way.

Are physically able and willing to get involved in practical team tasks

Practical Details

You’ll choose either Week 1: Site Setup or Week 2: Site Maintenance & Stewarding as your residential. The programme includes accommodation, some meals, daily team devotions, practical projects, and social activities.

Week 1: Site Setup. Monday – Saturday the week before event.
Week 2: Site Maintenance & Stewarding. Sunday – Friday during the event.
Accommodation is included on campus with breakfast and evening meals
£175 fee covers your residential, accommodation, and supervision
You’ll receive further details about kit list, arrival times, and contact info upon acceptance

There will also be downtime, including optional evening activities like bowling, swimming, or movie nights. It’s a chance to grow spiritually, make friends, and enjoy Christian fellowship while contributing to the vision of New Horizon.
